I’m thrilled to announce that the Globetrotter Lounge podcast won the Wanderful Award at the Inaugural Bessie Awards at the 2019 Women in Travel Summit (held in Portland, Maine). This award is given to a brand that has gone above and beyond to support, empower, and represent women in the past year.
I truly was speechless when they called my name, particularly because of the other incredible women and enterprises that were nominated for the award. Took me a moment to get my act together and get up there and say something.
This award in all honesty belongs to my guests. Without their inspiring travel-filled lives and stories, my podcast wouldn’t be what it is. It brings me such joy to amplify the voices of so many diverse, passionate and bold women. If my podcast inspires even one other woman to dream big and travel more – that’s award enough.
If you would have told me this was going to happen a little over a year ago when I started my podcast, I would NOT have believed you. You never know what will happen when you pursue your passions and put yourself out there. You just might be opening up the door to an amazing new chapter of your life, with new friends, incredible experiences, and a deeper understanding of what you are capable of.
Go for it. It might be you getting an award next year.
I wanted to share the good news and provide some information about the award. And a huge thank you to Wanderful and the WITS community, I’m truly humbled and honored.
About the Bessie Awards
Hosted by Wanderful, the Bessie Awards honor women of impact in the travel space, particularly influencers, creative entrepreneurs, marketers, and industry members who have added a compelling voice to the travel industry. It is named after Bessie Coleman, the first woman of African-American descent to hold a pilot’s license.
The Wanderful Award is special because it honors someone not only for their great work, but specifically because that work is focused on lifting other women in travel. That’s why we are particularly excited to give this award to Lisette Austin, whose Globetrotter Lounge podcast features dynamic women in travel from a number of backgrounds who are doing amazing things. Her dedication to telling their stories is powerful, and we can’t wait to hear more from her.
